DFI DAY TWO
Google Keep
Google Keep is for note-taking. Great for shopping
lists, reminders. A useful feature of Google keep is being able to
photograph some text and then Keep will type it out for you. You can
organise your notes and colour code everything. I liked the idea of being able
to collaborate with others and make changes to things like shopping lists so
that others can contribute. I think the reminder feature will also be
helpful.
Calendar
I
have been a bit reluctant to use the goggle calendar but now I feel more
confident to set up events and invite people to things. I also found it helpful to know you can send
a link. There are some very handy shortcuts to know:
y - year
a-agenda
d- day
w-week
c-create
t-time
g-date
n-next day, next month or year
q-create a new Event for that day.
G Mail
I
am so excited because I now know how to get the predictive text ( smart compose)
to appear and not disappear. You do this by using the tab button. I have also
learnt tips for tidying up my Gmail. The
snooze and schedule button is also helpful to delay the sending and receiving
of an email. There are so many clever tips we can use to make life easier
Hangouts
Today was the first time I
have officially been in a google hangout.
I participated, set up a google hangout.
We had a hangout with Dorothy which was interesting. My takeout from this was that “the
affordances of technology mean that every child, every day , should learn in
engaging ways that were simply not possible in the past. “
Other
Useful Tips
Other useful things I met today included the WWW
approach- what worked well? What didn’t work and what do you need help
with? A concise and easy way to assess and
reflect.
Toby Mini and One Tab
This is a way of having less tabs open while still having
easy access to everything- without the big mess on the tab bar!
